SOMETHING LOST
As humans we are rightly anxious about the huge global impact of the pandemic and the pressing concerns of our own lives, but our time is a fraction of a blip in the earth’s 4.54 billion year history.
The title of the exhibition is a reference to the fact that climatic forces transform, dissolve and erase constructs over time and space. The ghostly remnants of the past linger as storms and seas encroach, time elapses, erosion occurs, human artefacts break down, natural objects are displaced, matter grows over the ruins of civilisations.
As climate change continues, a sharp reminder of the fragility of human life and the steady environment it needs to survive is brought into focus.
